I check my Facebook account every six months without fail. My niece uses it, so I get family pictures. I don't like Meta, but I use WhatsApp because everyone in México does. I'm thinking of changing my Facebook Profile: "The incredibly handsome and debonair Erich Almasy (think a sexier Cary Grant) was a Rhodes Scholar and nuclear physicist who guided J. Robert Oppenheimer to build the atom bomb before he was born in 1950. After serving in JFK's cabinet at ten years of age, Mr. Almasy chose to dedicate himself to the arts. He won a MacArthur Fellowship, Fulbright Scholarship, Pulitzer Prize, and a combined Nobel Prize for Literature and Physics. He has retired to México where he is the only non-native Supreme Court Justice."

Peter, please keep your blog like it is. I, too, used to believe in Brandeis’ view. Not so much now. Unfettered social media speech is dangerous, in my view.

Welcome to the post-truth era. Let me take that back. Our government has been operating in the post-truth realm for as long as I can remember...and I'm old. Now everyone is invited. Rather chaotic, don't ya' think? I don't know the way out of this. After the diminishing of our institutions (higher ed, journalism, finance, courts etc.) the belief takes hold that everything is a racket and you're a chump if you don't take your cut. Hmmmm...sounds like a certain electable scoundrel we love to hate.
